Freegalmusic.com = Free Music!

As a patron of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library, I strongly recommend that other patrons of the IMCPL check out freegalmusic.com.  At freegalmusic.com, cardholders of the IMCPL can download three free mp3 files per week.  I have been using this site on a consistent basis for at least two years.  The site is easy to use and patrons can log in to the site from their home computer.  On the homepage, the user logs in to the site with the IMCPL card number and the PIN from the IMCPL card number.

It seems that many patrons of the IMCPL are not aware of the existence of freegalmusic.com, as I have mentioned the site to several patrons who have told me that they had no knowledge of its existence.  Those patrons who have been unaware of freegalmusic.com’s existence seem disappointed that they have been missing out on free music.  I only learned of freegalmusic.com when I happened to see a makeshift sign that advertised the site at my local branch of the IMCPL in Fountain Square.  When I saw the sign, I asked a staff person at the branch:  “What is freegalmusic.com?  Free music?”  The library staff person told me that, indeed, patrons of the IMCPL can download free music at freegalmusic.com.

Upon arriving home, I immediately logged on to freegalmusic.com, where I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it is true:  freegalmusic.com provides free mp3 files to patrons of the IMCPL.  Not only are there free mp3 files that are available for download on freegalmusic.com, but the downloading process is quick and easy.  The user can even listen to a sample of the file before it is downloaded.  Each user is allowed to download three free files per week on the site.

On my home computer, I have dozens of mp3 files that I have downloaded from freegalmusic.com.  I use these mp3 files to listen to music while I use my home computer and I use these mp3 files to make compact discs of music for my family and for myself.  (In order to make compact discs of music, I have to convert the mp3 files to .wav files that can be burned to blank discs.  To convert music files from the mp3 format to the .wav format, I use Switch Sound Converter, which is a free software program that is available for download on the internet.)

A wide variety of mp3 files is available on freegalmusic.com.  The files vary from the newest hit songs that you hear on Radio Disney to recordings of poetry readings to Bob Dylan songs.  I often download songs of artists with whom I am not familiar because I like to explore and discover new music.  What a great way to explore and discover new music:  free and from home!

I recommend that patrons of the IMCPL start and continue to use freegalmusic.com, as increased usage will indicate to the IMCPL that freegalmusic.com is a popular service that should not only be retained, but also enhanced, as a library service.  Check out freegalmusic.com.  If you are a music lover like me, you will love it!
